A supportive school in Chichester is looking for a dedicated Individual Needs Assistant to provide focused support to pupils who require extra help. This role offers the chance to make a real difference by building confidence, encouraging independence, and ensuring every child feels valued and included.

Key Responsibilities of the Individual Needs Assistant:

  • Delivering one-to-one support tailored to pupils’ individual learning or behavioural needs.
  • Assisting in adapting classroom resources and lessons to match different abilities and learning styles.
  • Promoting positive engagement, resilience, and independence in and beyond the classroom.
  • Supporting consistent behaviour management with a calm, encouraging approach.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and families to track progress and share feedback.

Requirements for the Individual Needs Assistant role:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs is advantageous.
  • Awareness of a variety of learning, social, or behavioural needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable attitude.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
  • Provide a full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
