Health Care Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £85 - £110 per day


GSL Education are seeking compassionate and skilled Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated team and contribute to the well-being of students of an Ofsted rated “Outstanding” Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire.

Ideal applicants should have experience working in Health Care Sector and knowledge of additional needs. Being able to communicate well with school leaders, parents and carers is essential.

Health Care Assistant Requirements:

  • NVQ Healthcare or an equivalent degree, or proof of having worked in a healthcare environment.
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and experience working with students with diverse learning needs such as Autism, ADHD and SEMH.
  • Knowledge of health care policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices.
  • Physically fit and able to carry out all duties as required.
  • A caring and empathetic nature with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have an Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service, or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education

Health Care Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with medical issues, delivering medication as appropriate under school policies.
  • Contribute to the best possible care delivery by assisting all staff and providing care in a way that is attentive to the needs and preferences of individual students.
  • Establish rapport with students and be aware of the specific student needs.
  • A thorough awareness of how the student's condition affects their hygienic, dietary, and movement abilities and needs.
  • Ensure confidentiality and adherence to safeguarding protocols by keeping correct and current health records for every student.
  • In an emergency, act quickly and calmly while adhering to the school's procedures..
