Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join schools in Chesterfield. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting pupils with additional behavioural and emotional needs, helping them to thrive in both their learning and personal development.

Role Overview:
As an SEMH TA, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted support for pupils with SEMH needs. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, building trust, and ensuring pupils feel safe and supported in the classroom and beyond.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Implement strategies to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Assist with learning activities tailored to pupils’ individual needs.
  • Help pupils develop resilience, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Uphold high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural, or additional needs is highly desirable.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
  • Resilience and adaptability to support pupils in a range of situations.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
