SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary: £88 – £110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

GSL Education is looking for a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a specialist school in Newham. You’ll be part of a dedicated team that helps children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm, where your patience, creativity, and commitment can transform learning experiences for pupils who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils with SEMH through 1:1 mentoring and small group sessions.

Assist teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet diverse needs.

Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

Build strong relationships that foster trust, resilience, and self-belief.

Contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (desirable).

A caring, proactive, and adaptable mindset.

Strong communication skills and emotional resilience.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
