SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary: £88 – £110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

GSL Education is looking for a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a specialist school in Newham. You’ll be part of a dedicated team that helps children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm, where your patience, creativity, and commitment can transform learning experiences for pupils who need it most.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH through 1:1 mentoring and small group sessions.

  • Assist teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet diverse needs.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

  • Build strong relationships that foster trust, resilience, and self-belief.

  • Contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (desirable).

  • A caring, proactive, and adaptable mindset.

  • Strong communication skills and emotional resilience.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
