Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield (S10)
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield (S10). This role provides the opportunity to work closely with students, supporting their learning and emotional development in a nurturing and structured environment.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs during lessons and activities.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to help students engage with the curriculum.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents to support holistic student development.
  • Help monitor and record pupil progress to inform teaching strategies.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or similar needs is desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
