Secondary Learning Support Assistant – Stockport

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a thriving and well-regarded secondary school from September 2025. This long-term opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people, particularly those with additional needs.
You will work across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting students both academically and emotionally to help them reach their full potential. The school offers a welcoming environment, excellent facilities, and a strong focus on student wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt lessons and learning materials
Support literacy, numeracy, and emotional wellbeing interventions
Build strong relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and independence
Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
Track student progress and behaviour, reporting concerns when needed
Requirements:
Experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally in an education or support setting
A good understanding of SEN and how to implement support strategies
Strong communication, patience, and behaviour management skills
A calm, empathetic, and proactive attitude
A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
A fully enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
A CV covering the last 10 years with satisfactory references and no unexplained gaps
