Job Title: Maternity Cover Class Teacher
Location: Canterbury
Pay Rate: £120 - £250 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: October 2025
Contract Type: Fixed Term, Part-time/Full-time

A welcoming primary school in Canterbury is seeking a dedicated Class Teacher to cover maternity leave in a Year 4/5 class. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or Early Career Teacher (ECT) to contribute to a supportive school community and provide high-quality teaching and learning for pupils.

About the School: This is a primary school that serves children aged 4 to 11 within a close-knit community. It provides a nurturing environment where pupils are supported in their academic, personal, and spiritual development.

Responsibilities of a Maternity Cover Class Teacher:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and well-structured classroom environment.
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, ensuring each child is supported to reach their potential.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to enhance pupil development.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and contribute to wider school life.

To be successful as a Maternity Cover Class Teacher, you should:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 4/5 experience desirable).
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to suit individual learning needs.
  • A commitment to supporting both academic and personal growth of pupils.
  • Provide a full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
