Overseas Trained Teachers

As an overseas trained teacher, you will be highly valued by many schools of all types. At GSL Education, we have experience of supporting candidates at every stage in their relocation.  Many of our staff have themselves relocated from overseas and are ideally placed to offer advice and support.

Although, we are not a specialist company for hiring overseas teachers, we aim to stand out as a leading competitor due to our caring and ethical approach.  We will do our best at every stage to give honest, up to date information and support, appropriate to your individual situation.

This support will be in place from our initial contact (for example at University Fairs), throughout placement and beyond.

We will keep in touch with you after you have been successfully placed, so that you can develop a social support network, a rewarding and successful placement and come to us for support should you be looking for employment in the future.

Please note that requirements may change from 1st January due to the impact of Brexit – we will keep you up to date with these changes and update our documentation as required.  Please ask us if you have any questions.

We offer a range of benefits to help you find the right location and work opportunities. We also offer generous Guaranteed Pay Schemes to help you maintain a regular income.

Outstanding Relocation Support:

There is lots to organise and you may need support with various logistical factors such as:

  • Obtaining the correct VISA
  • Obtaining QTS
  • Applying for an NI number
  • Setting up a Bank Account and UK Mobile
  • Accommodation
  • Transport options/links
  • Doctors/Dentists/Opticians

You may also need guidance on Local Information - for example when choosing schools and living accommodation, as well as social networking such as: places to eat, local entertainment and places of interest.

This information will be provided through our ‘Relocation Handbook’ and links to key sites such as English Heritage, National Trust, Tourist Information, BBC – schools etc.

The handbook will be available online via the website, but all of our staff are on hand to help too.

Ongoing support through GSL:

Once you have relocated, we will you to build contacts with other overseas candidates so you can share experiences, organise social events etc.

We will stay in regular contact beyond placement, even if you choose to work with other recruitment agencies or find work through direct applications. You may decide to relocate within the UK, or move schools, or change your teaching status.  We will always be on hand should you need advice or support.  You will also be invited to GSL social events and to CPD events.
