PE (Physical Education) Teaching Assistant

Pay Scale: £95 - £120 Per Day

GSL Education are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic PE Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant, co-educational school in Barnsley. As a PE Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the PE department, helping students develop their physical skills, confidence, a healthy lifestyle and enthusiasm for sports.
About the Role:
In this role as a PE Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with PE teachers to deliver high-quality physical education lessons and extracurricular activities. You will support students in participating fully in sports, ensuring they are motivated and engaged. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves sports and is eager to help young people succeed both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities of a PE Teaching Assistant:
- Assist PE teachers in delivering engaging and effective PE lessons.
- Support students in participating in physical activities and sports.
- Help organise and run extracurricular sports events and competitions.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students needing additional help.
- Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed during physical activities.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and a love for physical fitness among students.
- Help to set up sports equipment and maintain a tidy environment for lessons.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the PE department.
Essential Requirements for a PE Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience as a PE Teaching Assistant or a background in sports is preferred.
- A passion for promoting health, fitness, and physical education in young people.
- A positive, proactive approach to working with students of all abilities.
- The ability to engage and inspire students to participate fully in physical education.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding and health and safety in a PE environment.
