English Graduate
Start Date: Easter/ September 2021
Contract: Supply / Contract / Temporary
Pay rate: Salary: £65 - £75 per day
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

GSL Education Hull are seeking an ambitious English Graduate to join their Hull team of educators to work in Secondary and Special Needs Schools, as a Teaching Assistant and Cover Supervisor.

Cover Supervisor Job Role:
  • To manage the classroom and ensure that students remain on task with the work they have been set
  • To manage the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking tasks to ensure a constructive environment
  • To respond to any questions from pupils about the work and tasks
  • To collect all completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher
  • To report back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues that may arise

Teaching Assistant Job Role:
  • To support pupils across the curriculum, or English department, to help drive attainment across the School
  • To provide extra support to pupils with special needs or those for whom English is not their first language
  • To motivate and encourage pupil engagement and attendance, whilst promoting positive behaviours
  • To attend meetings, reviews and training sessions as required
Ideal English Graduate requirements:
  • Hold a BA Honours English Degree with a 2:1 and 1st classification
  • Have strong communication skills 
  • Enjoy working with young people 
  • Be able to think of your feet, be enthusiastic and charismatic
  • Be highly flexible in your approach to teaching and learning 
  • Hold a strong work ethic and have a strong desire to have a successful career in the education sector
