Job Title: Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92 - £115 per day

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a committed and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within schools in York and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with teachers and pupils to support learning across the curriculum, helping students to engage, progress, and achieve their full potential.
About the Role:
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across the classroom, working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning, encourage engagement, and assist with behaviour and pastoral support where needed. You will play a key role in helping students access the curriculum and develop confidence in their learning.
Key Responsibilities of the Level 2 Teaching Assistant:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the curriculum
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning objectives
- Assist in preparing classroom resources and learning materials
- Support students with varying abilities, including those with additional needs
- Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive learning attitudes
- Observe, record, and feedback on pupil progress where required
- Encourage student participation, independence, and confidence in learning
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
As the Ideal Level 2 Teaching Assistant, You Should Have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A supportive, patient, and positive approach to working with learners
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a classroom environment
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- A proactive attitude and willingness to support a range of subjects and needs
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working within an educational setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
