Behaviour Teaching Assistant

Location: Staxton, North Yorkshire
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026

GSL Education are looking for a resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs in a specialist provision near Staxton. This role is suited to someone experienced in youth work, mentoring or supporting vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils displaying challenging behaviours

  • Implement personalised behaviour support plans

  • Encourage engagement, consistency and resilience

  • Work collaboratively with pastoral and teaching staff

  • Promote a safe, respectful learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience in SEMH, youth work or behaviour support

  • Ability to remain calm, consistent and firm but fair

  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
