Autism Support Worker

Location: Burniston, North Yorkshire
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026

GSL Education are recruiting a patient and committed Autism Support Worker for a specialist SEN provision near Burniston. You will be supporting autistic learners who benefit from clear routines, sensory strategies and structured communication methods.

Responsibilities

  • Support autistic pupils with communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation

  • Use visual prompts, structured tasks and predictable routines

  • Assist teachers in delivering individual learning programmes

  • Encourage engagement, motivation and confidence

  • Promote positive behaviour strategies

Requirements

  • Experience supporting autistic children or young people

  • Understanding of sensory processing and communication systems

  • Calm, empathetic and structured approach

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
