Job description

SECONDARY PRU TEACHER

Location: Tower Hamlets

Pay: £150–£250 per day

Contract: Full-Time

Start Date: Immediate

A Different Kind of Classroom. A Different Kind of Teacher.

In the heart of an alternative provision sits a space where every day is unpredictable, every student is unique, and every lesson matters. This is not mainstream. This is a place where relationships come first, trust takes time, and progress—no matter how small—means everything.

This is where we need a Secondary PRU Teacher who can see beyond behaviour, beyond barriers, and into the potential that lies underneath.

The Role

As a Secondary PRU Teacher, you’ll be working with KS3–KS4 learners who require structure, patience, and firm but steady guidance. You will:

  • Plan flexible, personalised lessons that meet varied learning needs.

  • Use emotional intelligence and trauma-informed strategies to support behaviour.

  • Build consistency and routine that help learners reconnect with education.

  • Collaborate with mentors, counsellors, and safeguarding teams.

  • Celebrate progress made in steps—not leaps.

Your role as a Secondary PRU Teacher is not just instructional—it is stabilising, grounding, and transformative.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive as a Secondary PRU Teacher, you’ll need:

  • QTS or equivalent.

  • Experience in PRUs, SEMH, behaviour units, or alternative provision (ideal).

  • Strong behaviour management rooted in empathy, boundaries, and calm leadership.

  • Resilience, patience, and a reflective mindset.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

We are seeking a Secondary PRU Teacher who brings heart as well as skill.

What You’ll Gain

Working as a Secondary PRU Teacher here offers you:

  • A supportive, tight-knit team who genuinely value wellbeing.

  • Growth opportunities and specialist training in SEMH and alternative provision.

  • Space to teach creatively and adaptively, without rigid constraints.

  • The chance to see real-life change happen in front of you.

Safeguarding Note

This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All applicants must complete full vetting checks, including an Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
