Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £85 - £110 per day
Start Date: As soon as possible
A “good” primary school with “outstanding” behaviour in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This role will involve working either 1:1 with a pupil who has additional needs or supporting a Key Stage 2 class, depending on experience and strengths.
About the Role of a Teaching Assistant:
The school is looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant (Monday to Friday) who is committed to supporting pupils with additional needs. Primary school experience is ideal, but the school also welcomes applications from recent graduates or candidates with secondary or SEN backgrounds.
The school prides itself on its warm, welcoming staff team who provide excellent support and guidance.
Main Duties of a Teaching Assistant:
• Support pupils in their learning, either 1:1 or in small groups
• Manage behaviour effectively
• Assist with interventions to support pupil progress
• Work closely with the class teacher on planning and lesson delivery
• Use formative and summative assessment to track progress
• Promote independence and life skills
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pastoral care
The Ideal Candidate Will:
• Be available Monday to Friday
• Have experience or awareness of supporting pupils with additional needs
• Be proactive, energetic, kind, and caring
• Hold an enhanced DBS (or be willing to apply for one)
• Have a fully checkable work history
