Learning Support Assistant
Location: Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: £23,000 Pro Rata
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (Direct with School)
Start Date: November 2025

GSL Education is working with a specialist Alternative Provision school in Hull to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a contracted, long-term basis directly with the school.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in a nurturing, inclusive environment. The school provides bespoke education for learners aged 14–19, helping them develop key life skills, independence, and confidence for adulthood.

The Role:

  • Support students aged 14–19 with ASC and SLD in both classroom and community-based learning.
  • Assist with individual education and care plans, promoting emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to create a calm, structured, and supportive environment.
  • Encourage engagement, communication, and social interaction through tailored support strategies.
  • Support students with personal care where required (training provided).

About You:

  • Experience supporting young people with ASC, SLD, or complex learning needs is highly desirable.
  • Patient, compassionate, and adaptable, with a calm and proactive approach.
  • Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).
