SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: January 2026 or sooner
Salary: £85 - £110 per day
Contract Type: Full-Time
GSL Education are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with additional needs at an Alternative Provision located in York, North Yorkshire, starting in January 2026 or sooner.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of additional needs.
- Track and record student progress, offering feedback to the teaching team.
- Contribute to lesson delivery by adapting activities to ensure learning is inclusive and engaging.
- Apply strategies that promote students’ academic progress as well as their social and emotional growth.
- Support emotional regulation techniques and help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN or additional needs.
- A strong commitment to supporting children and young people with SEN.
- Relevant qualifications (such as CACHE or Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are beneficial but not essential.
- Have an enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply for one via GSL Education.
