Job description

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual who loves making a difference in children’s lives?
GSL Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Brentwood on a long-term, full-time basis, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping children with additional needs to reach their full potential — both academically and personally.
You’ll work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide one-to-one and small group support, ensuring that every child feels valued, included, and encouraged to thrive.

This is a wonderful opportunity to build meaningful relationships with pupils and become a trusted part of a caring school community.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech & language, or learning difficulties)

  • Providing one-to-one and small group assistance inside and outside the classroom

  • Helping to adapt lessons and learning materials to meet individual needs

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to support pupil progress

  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting

  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to learning support

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for helping every child succeed

  • A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent, are desirable but not essential.
