Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £140 – £190 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Easter Term 2025

Are you a passionate Drama Teacher eager to spark imagination, self-expression, and confidence in young learners? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Drama Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Barnsley from Easter Term 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to make a lasting impact, helping students develop vital performance skills while building confidence and teamwork.

About the Role:

As a Drama Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, encouraging creativity and collaboration while preparing students for both practical and written assessments. You will nurture talent, build performance skills, and foster a love for the performing arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Drama up to GCSE level, inspiring students of all abilities.

  • Deliver creative and dynamic lessons in line with the national curriculum.

  • Support pupils’ development in performance, script work, and stagecraft.

  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations.

  • Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.

  • Contribute to departmental planning, productions, and wider school activities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Specialism in Drama or Performing Arts.

  • Experience teaching Drama at secondary level (GCSE desirable).

  • Strong subject knowledge and a flair for creativity.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

  • A ten-year career history with references covering the past two years, including your most recent role.
