Overseas Teachers

UK schools offer tremendous opportunities for experienced and effective overseas trained teachers, and GSL has a great deal of experience working with and placing OTTs. London is extremely culturally diverse, making it easy for teachers from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and many other countries to start enjoying life in the capital. But we understand that living and working in a foreign country can be daunting as well as an adventure – which is why we will support and guide you wherever possible, and can even help you meet people through our social events.
Some of the essential criteria enabling overseas teachers to find teaching jobs in the UK are:
A recognised qualification (BEd, MEd, etc) that has been verified by NARIC (the National Recognition Information Centre for the UK) as being equivalent to a UK teaching qualification
A valid work visa and/or work permit
A police check from country of origin
Fluency in spoken and written English
Overseas trained teachers must go through the same registration process as other candidates, and provide us with the same documents, references and information.
If you're interested in working with GSL please either register online, contact us or call us on 0207 739 2211 for more information. Once you have registered your interest with GSL, a consultant will contact you to guide you through the rest of the process. In some cases we can provide advice and assistance for visas, work permits and accommodation.
From time to time we run recruitment drives for overseas teachers in various countries. To date we have travelled to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India to find good teachers, with great success. Look out for us in local papers and web advertisements!
"I am a post graduate qualified teacher from India and relocated to the UK and was desperately looking for a teaching position in this country. Out of all the numerous agencies I contacted GSL were the only agency that genuinely responded. They provided me with all the materials needed to do supply work, but first started me off as a teaching assistant that gave me a great insight into what was required to be a teacher in the UK and led me to develop my skills and experience. I was then given daily supply work and now am on a long term science post that has a high possibility of becoming permanent. This is all due to their support and counselling at all stages. I recommend GSL to all new as well as experienced teachers they truly are friendly and concerned about your well being. This makes them stand apart from everyone else."
