Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Newham
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (8.30am – 4.00pm)
Salary: £88 – £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you ready to make a real impact on the lives of children with additional behavioural needs? GSL Education is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a dedicated special school in Newham. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4.00pm, working with students who need extra support to thrive in a structured and safe learning environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting pupils with behavioural challenges and SEMH needs on both a 1:1 and group basis.

  • Helping to maintain a positive classroom atmosphere by implementing behaviour management strategies.

  • Encouraging students’ confidence, resilience, and academic engagement.

  • Assisting teachers in adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.

  • Promoting independence while building trusting and respectful relationships with pupils.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs (school or similar setting preferred).

  • Patience, empathy, and the resilience to remain calm in demanding situations.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow guidance from teaching staff.

  • Full-time availability (Monday–Friday, 8.30am–4.00pm) is essential.

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
