SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: ASAP / September 2025
Salary: £88 – £110 per day

GSL Education is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:2:1 support to a EYFS/KS1 pupil with additional learning and developmental needs. You’ll deliver personalised learning, promote engagement and positive behaviour, and collaborate with staff and families in a structured, nurturing environment. Previous experience supporting young children with SEN is essential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact, working in a supportive, professional setting.

About the Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored 1:2:1 support to a young pupil, adapting strategies to meet individual learning and developmental needs.
  • Promote engagement and positive behaviour using proactive, person-centred approaches.
  • Work closely with the teaching team to implement personalised learning plans.
  • Support the pupil during classroom activities, transitions, and enrichment opportunities.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in KS1/EYFS, ideally in a 1:2:1 setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to each child’s unique needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and external professionals.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
