Behaviour Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: ASAP / September 2025
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
About the School:
This specialist KS4 provision supports students with complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The school offers a structured, nurturing environment where personalised learning and emotional support are central to helping each student achieve their potential. Staff work closely with families, external professionals, and multi-disciplinary teams to provide holistic support tailored to individual needs.
About the Role as a Behaviour Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored 1:2:1 support to a student with a complex profile, adapting strategies to support learning and wellbeing.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement, using proactive and person-centred approaches.
- Work closely with the teaching team to implement personalised learning plans.
- Support the student during classroom activities, transitions, and off-site learning opportunities.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or complex needs, ideally on a 1:2:1 basis.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in volatile situations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
- Commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
