Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Swinton, S64
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

Are you compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

GSL Education are seeking a motivated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school in the Swinton (S64) area. As an SEMH TA, this role offers the opportunity to provide personalised support to pupils with additional emotional and behavioural needs, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and key social skills.


Responsibilities
as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and tailored support plans.
  • Build trusting relationships to encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and learning.
  • Monitor and report on pupils’ progress to teaching and pastoral staff.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.


Requirements
for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children, ideally within SEMH or additional needs settings.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, with any gaps explained.
