About the Role: As a SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with staff to provide personalised support, helping students develop independence, resilience, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs, fostering emotional regulation and positive social interactions.
- Implement proactive behaviour management strategies within a therapeutic framework to promote self-regulation and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, pastoral staff, and external professionals to deliver personalised learning and emotional support.
- Support students’ personal, social, and academic development through integrated interventions in daily activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, observations, and interventions to inform planning and ongoing support.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting students with SEMH needs, including autism, in educational or care settings.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and therapeutic approaches to promote wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to adapt support to meet individual needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and external professionals to implement and review personalised interventions.
