About the Role: As a Special Education Needs TA (SEN TA), you will play a key role in supporting students with diverse needs, helping them achieve their academic, social, and emotional goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to pupils with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH, supporting their academic progress, emotional well-being, and social development.
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning activities both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging engagement through practical, sensory, and real-world experiences.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence by modelling strategies and supporting pupils in managing challenges effectively.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to adapt learning plans, ensuring consistency and tailored support for each child’s individual needs.
  • Encourage participation in physical education, outdoor learning, and life-skills activities to support holistic development and well-being.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to adapt approaches to meet individual learning and emotional needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while supporting pupils’ independence, confidence, and personal development.
