About the Role: As a Learning Support Mentor, you will provide personalised guidance and support to students, helping them develop social, emotional, and academic skills while fostering confidence, resilience, and positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to pupils with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH, supporting their academic progress, emotional well-being, and social development.
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning activities both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging engagement through practical, sensory, and real-world experiences.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence by modelling strategies and supporting pupils in managing challenges effectively.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to adapt learning plans, ensuring consistency and tailored support for each child’s individual needs.
  • Encourage participation in physical education, outdoor learning, and life-skills activities to support holistic development and well-being.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH in educational or care settings.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and the ability to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Ability to adapt teaching and mentoring approaches to meet individual learning styles and emotional needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Resilience, patience, and a proactive attitude, with a commitment to promoting well-being, independence, and life skills development.
