Job description

We are working with a welcoming primary school in Loughton who are looking to appoint a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant from September 2025.

The role will involve supporting a child in the classroom who requires additional help with learning and social development. The school is looking for someone reliable, patient, and able to adapt to the child’s needs while working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys supporting children and wants to make a positive impact each day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual support to a pupil with additional needs throughout the school day.

  • Help the child access learning, follow routines, and take part in classroom activities.

  • Support with social skills, confidence, and emotional well-being.

  • Encourage independence while providing reassurance when needed.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow strategies that support progress.

  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents to share updates and successes.

What We’re Looking For

✅ Previous experience working with children (school, nursery, or youth setting).
✅ Experience with SEN is desirable (e.g. Autism, ADHD, speech & language, or social/emotional needs).
✅ A caring, patient, and flexible approach.
✅ Someone who is reliable, committed, and able to build positive relationships.
✅ Qualifications are helpful but not essential — the right attitude and experience are most important.
