SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield, S20
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking an empathetic and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield, S20. In this role of SEMH TA, you will provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to develop essential life skills, manage emotions, and engage positively in school life.

Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Implement strategies for emotional regulation and behaviour management.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create and implement individualised support plans.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes well-being.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive, solutions-focused approach to challenges.
  • A valid, enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, with any gaps clearly explained.
