SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) - Eastleigh, Hampshire
Are you passionate about supporting young people with autism and learning difficulties to achieve their full potential?
A secondary school in Eastleigh is seeking a dedicated full-time SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their resource base from September 2025 or October 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career in SEN education, with the chance to secure a permanent contract following a successful probation period. This is to work in the school’s resource base, which caters for students with autism and learning difficulties. Happy to consider people from the care background who have SEN experience.
Key Responsibilities of the SEN LSA:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism and Learning Difficulties.
- Assist teachers in adapting and delivering lessons to suit individual needs.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
- Support students’ social, emotional, and communication development.
- Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to deliver effective support.
Requirements of the SEN LSA:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in education or care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging behaviours.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
- A genuine interest in helping students reach their goals.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
