SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) - Dibden Purlieu, Hampshire

A secondary school in Dibden Purlieu is seeking a full-time SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their specialist resource base from September 2025 or October 2025. This role offers a permanent contract following a successful probation period, as well as clear opportunities to progress through pay grades as you gain more experience. The school is open to applicants from both education and care backgrounds who have relevant SEN experience.
Key Responsibilities of the SEN LSA:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with Autism and Learning Difficulties.
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Encourage students’ independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
- Support students’ social, emotional, and communication development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure effective support.
Requirements of the SEN LSA:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, either in education or care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting challenging behaviours.
- A genuine passion for helping students reach their full potential.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
