SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) - Fareham, Hampshire

Are you ready to support young people with Autism and Learning Difficulties to achieve their full potential?

A secondary school in Fareham is looking for a full-time SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their dedicated resource base from September 2025 or October 2025. This specialist provision supports students with a range of additional needs, and the role offers the chance to make a real difference while developing your career. The school provides a permanent contract following a successful probation period, as well as opportunities to progress through pay grades as you gain experience. Applicants from the care sector with relevant SEN experience are warmly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN LSA:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to students with Autism and Learning Difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in adapting learning materials and ensuring lessons are accessible.
  • Encourage students’ independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
  • Support with emotional, social, and communication development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to meet individual needs.

Requirements of the SEN LSA:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (education or care background considered).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
