Job Title: Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Staveley, S43
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Staveley. This rewarding role is perfect for individuals who are calm under pressure, committed to student well-being, and confident in working with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support.
Role Overview:
As a Secondary SEMH TA, you will work closely with pupils who display SEMH needs and may be at risk of disengagement from learning. Your focus will be to foster positive relationships, promote emotional regulation, and support the development of both academic and life skills.
Responsibilities as a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Deliver one-to-one or small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Promote a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils in developing positive behaviour, resilience, and social interaction.
- Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to implement individual support strategies.
- Monitor progress and contribute to regular feedback and intervention planning.
Requirements for Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs, preferably at the secondary level.
- Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and behaviour de-escalation strategies.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour with empathy and consistency.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
