Autism Teaching Assistant
 Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire 
 Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only 
 Start Date: ASAP
 Salary: £88 – £105 per day

 GSL Education are seeking a full-time Autism Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team at a specialist SEMH and SEND provision committed to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all pupils.
The school supports learners with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated social, emotional, and learning needs, helping each student to develop communication, confidence, and independence.
Your Role as an Autism Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with Autism, promoting engagement and inclusion across lessons.
 - Assist with implementing EHCP targets, visual timetables, and sensory-based strategies.
 - Encourage communication and social interaction through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
 - Support with emotional regulation, helping pupils to manage challenges calmly and constructively.
 - Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent, holistic support.
 
You Will Need:
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism and additional needs, ideally in an educational or care setting.
 - A calm, understanding, and adaptable approach to working with learners with sensory and communication differences.
 - The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and colleagues alike.
 - A passion for helping children reach their full potential — academically, socially, and emotionally.
 
Ideal for Candidates from:
- SEN, Care, Youth Work, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or Therapy backgrounds.
 - Training and ongoing support provided by GSL Education for those new to the classroom.
