SEN Teaching Assistant
 Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire 
 Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only 
 Start Date: ASAP
 Salary: £88 – £105 per day

GSL Education are working in partnership with an inclusive specialist school that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)needs and associated learning difficulties. We are currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a calm, resilient, and empathetic nature who thrives on helping others succeed.
Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH and additional learning needs, both in class and during small group interventions.
 - Work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive and safe learning environment.
 - Encourage independence, engagement, and emotional regulation in pupils.
 - Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their wellbeing and personal development.
 - Assist with implementing individual learning plans and behaviour strategies.
 
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN / SEMH needs – in schools, care, youth work, or other support settings.
 - Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
 - The ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent when managing behaviour.
 - A proactive and compassionate approach, with a genuine desire to help young people succeed.
 
Transferable Backgrounds:
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
- Youth Work, Sports Coaching, Health & Social Care, Psychology, Mental Health Support, or Residential Care.
 - Training and ongoing support will be provided for those looking to transition into education.
