Pay Scale: £150 - £260 per day – depending on experience & Contract Type

If so, GSL Education would love to hear from you. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated English Teacher to join one of our client secondary schools in Barnet.

As an English Teacher, your responsibilities will include more than planning and marking you will be shaping the expressive and analytical thinkers of the future. Key responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver a rich and engaging English curriculum across Key Stages, covering essential reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills in line with the national curriculum.

Effective Instruction: Use creative teaching strategies, modern technology, and varied literary texts to inspire student engagement and promote a lifelong love of reading and writing.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Evaluate student progress using a range of assessments such as essays, creative writing tasks, exams, and oral presentations, while providing constructive feedback to support improvement.

Literacy Development: Promote literacy across the whole school, encouraging students to develop confident communication skills and strong vocabulary.

Classroom Management: Maintain high expectations for behaviour and foster an inclusive, respectful learning environment that supports active participation and collaboration.

Continuous Professional Growth: Stay up to date with changes in English education and assessment, sharing best practices and contributing to the school’s ongoing improvement.
The successful English Teacher will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent PGCE, BA/BEd with QTS in English).

Previous experience teaching English within a secondary school environment.

Excellent subject knowledge of English Language and/or English Literature curriculum.

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Ability to inspire students and build strong relationships with young learners.

DBS registered with the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
