Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Rotherham (S62)
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEMH TA to join a nurturing and inclusive school in Rotherham (S62). This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support young learners in overcoming barriers, building confidence, and achieving personal and academic growth.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment that encourages engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement effective learning and behaviour strategies.
- Promote resilience, self-esteem, and positive social interactions among pupils.
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently, using restorative approaches.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff to ensure continued development.
Requirements for the SEMH TA role:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive attitude towards learning support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow teacher or SENCO guidance.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any employment gaps.
