About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join the school immediately. The role involves providing personalised support to pupils with a variety of special educational needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve measurable progress. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys fostering independence, supporting behavioural development, and contributing to a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, or behavioural needs.

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to each pupil’s learning goals.

  • Support pupils with personal care and physical needs as required, always maintaining dignity and respect.

  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.

  • Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and participation in both classroom and outdoor learning activities.

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent, needs-based support.

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing support plans and reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patience and empathy.

  • Understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive education principles.

  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, Health and Social Care, or Psychology are advantageous.

  • Must have the right to work in the UK and hold, or be willing to apply for, an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
