Location: Burley
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with additional needs? GSL Education are looking for a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join schools in Burley.

As a Special Educational Needs TA, you will provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of additional learning needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, and emotional or behavioural challenges. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to create a positive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom and individual support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of personalised education and behaviour plans.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
  • Support teachers in planning and delivering inclusive lessons.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
  • Record and report progress to teachers and SENCOs as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally within a school environment.
  • Understanding of a range of learning difficulties, including autism and ADHD.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance are desirable.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
