A friendly and welcoming primary school in Maldon is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a long-term, full-time role with the opportunity of a permanent contract. Supporting a child in Key Stage 1 with additional learning needs.

The Role
As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their day-to-day learning. You’ll help the child access lessons, develop key skills, and build confidence in the classroom.
Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 support to a child with SEN, adapting activities to suit their individual needs

Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment

Encouraging the child’s academic, social, and emotional development through patience, encouragement, and praise

Supporting with classroom organisation, behaviour management, and small group work where needed

Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced in working with children, ideally within a primary or SEN setting

Calm, patient, and understanding, with a caring and proactive attitude

Able to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with children and adults alike

Flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting children’s progress and wellbeing
-
Ideally qualified to Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or with equivalent experience)
