Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield (S11)
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with additional behavioural or emotional needs, helping them engage positively in education and personal development.


As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Help pupils manage their emotions, build confidence, and develop coping strategies.
  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Implement behaviour support plans and encourage positive learning behaviours.
  • Foster a nurturing and safe learning environment where pupils can thrive.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support.


Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
