Learning Support Assistant opportunity in Bexhill

About the School
This inclusive primary and SEN provision in Bexhill is dedicated to supporting children with a range of learning needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school is known for its strong focus on pastoral care, teamwork, and providing pupils with the tools to succeed both in and outside the classroom. Staff are supported through training and collaboration to ensure every child receives the highest standard of support and education.

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and the SEN team to provide tailored classroom and one-to-one support to pupils who require additional help accessing learning. You will help pupils build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals. This role is perfect for someone passionate about education and committed to creating a positive and engaging learning environment for every child.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and one-to-one support to pupils with learning difficulties or additional needs.

  • Implement strategies to help pupils develop literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.

  • Encourage engagement and participation in classroom activities.

  • Support emotional and social development, promoting positive behaviour and self-esteem.

  • Assist the teacher in delivering differentiated lessons to meet pupils’ individual needs.

  • Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to review pupil progress and adapt support accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a primary or SEN setting.

  • A good understanding of SEN support and inclusive education practices.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with children.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths; Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
