Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Braintree, Essex
Salary: £90 – £110 per day (PAYE/experience dependent)
Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent (Term Time)

A specialist SEN school in Braintree is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. This role offers the chance to support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and communication challenges.

About the Role:
As an SEN LSA, you will support pupils both one-to-one and in small groups to access learning and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to deliver holistic support.
Responsibilities:
- Support students with learning tasks and personalised curriculum activities
- Assist with communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, visuals or AAC devices)
- Implement behaviour support plans using positive behaviour strategies
- Encourage student independence, confidence and emotional regulation
- Provide sensory and therapeutic support in line with pupil needs
- Assist with personal care, feeding or mobility where required (training provided)
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with students
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families
Qualifications & Experience:
Preferred:
- Previous experience working with SEN pupils or vulnerable young people
- Understanding of autism, complex needs, sensory processing or communication difficulties
- Experience in a school, care or education setting
Essential:
- Patience, empathy and emotional resilience
- A genuine passion for helping children with special needs
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to learner needs and follow guidance
- A positive and proactive approach
