Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £150 – £230 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
GSL Education are seeking an experienced SEMH Teacher to join a nurturing and inclusive school in Rotherham. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of pupils who require additional emotional, social, and behavioural support to succeed academically and personally.
As a SEMH Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring accessibility and inclusion.
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, and external professionals to support individual learning plans (ILPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Track pupil progress and provide regular feedback to senior leaders and parents/carers.
- Foster a culture of respect, self-esteem, and motivation among pupils.
Requirements for SEMH Teacher:
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience teaching pupils with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
- Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills.
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting young learners.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full and relevant CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
