Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour

GSL Education are excited to be working with a SEN school in Cosham who are looking to recruit several SEN Teaching Assistants required to start asap.
The school supports children and young adults with ASD, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health challenges. The environment and grounds are outstanding, and they also have a college site based in Cosham.

The SEN Teaching Assistant positions will start on a temporary basis with the possible option of going permanent after a set number of weeks working through GSL Education.
Experience supporting students within SEN schools or candidates with strong experience of Autism or supporting children with Moderate to Severe learning difficulties. Being of a kind, caring and compassionate nature.
Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
You will provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Autism, helping them access learning and build life skills. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and truly committed to inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored lessons and care plans to support student development
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
- Support with personal care, feeding, and communication strategies
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents
- Accurately maintain records in line with care and EHCP guidelines
- Use specialist techniques and communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton) where required
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism (in education, care, or community settings)
- A good understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and SEN best practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Adaptability, patience, and a calm, nurturing approach
To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
