Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Sheffield. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide one-to-one and small group support, helping pupils to overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a positive, inclusive environment.

As an SEN TA, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide tailored academic, emotional, and behavioural support based on individual needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Provide personalised academic and emotional support under the direction of the class teacher or SENCO.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction in and outside the classroom.
  • Assist with behaviour management and promote a calm, nurturing learning environment.
  • Help prepare classroom resources and support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (school or care setting experience is advantageous).
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, including explanations for any employment gaps.
