Job description
We’re looking for a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a well-regarded primary school in Chelmsford.
Starting immediately, this full-time role involves working closely with a child who requires additional emotional and behavioural support to help them thrive both academically and socially. You’ll play a vital part in creating a positive, consistent, and nurturing environment that encourages learning, confidence, and independence.
Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN and behavioural needs.

Help implement behaviour management strategies and individual learning plans.

Encourage positive social interactions and emotional regulation.

Support the child in accessing learning and participating in classroom activities.

Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to provide consistent support.

Maintain accurate records and provide feedback on progress and behaviour.
What We’re Looking For

Experience working with children with SEN and/or behavioural needs (in schools, youth work, or similar settings).

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

The ability to remain positive and solution-focused in challenging situations.

A genuine passion for supporting children’s wellbeing and development.
