SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for compassionate and patient SLD Teaching Assistants to support schools across Sheffield.
About the Role:
As an SLD Teaching Assistant (SLD TA), you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils with severe learning difficulties. You will play a key role in helping students engage with the curriculum, develop essential life skills, and achieve their full potential.
SLD Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SLD in both 1:1 and small group settings.
- Assist in delivering personalised learning plans and adapted classroom activities.
- Encourage independence, communication, and social interaction skills.
- Use creative approaches, such as sensory activities, to support learning.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and other staff.
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SLD or similar needs is highly desirable.
- CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualifications preferred.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children with significant learning challenges.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
