PMLD Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time
Are you passionate about supporting children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)?
GSL Education are seeking caring and resilient PMLD Teaching Assistants to join schools across Sheffield.
As a PMLD Teaching Assistant (PMLD TA), you will provide essential support to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, helping them access learning and develop key life skills. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment tailored to each child’s individual needs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD.
- Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes and sensory-based activities.
- Support pupils with physical, medical, and emotional needs.
- Use communication aids and assistive technologies to enhance learning.
- Foster independence, confidence, and positive social interaction.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment.
PMLD Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs is highly desirable.
- CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualifications preferred.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with high levels of need.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
