SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time
Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them achieve their full potential?
GSL Education are seeking caring and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join schools in Doncaster.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted support for pupils with SEMH needs. You will help create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment while encouraging students to develop resilience, confidence, and independence.
SEMH Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Support teachers in delivering lessons tailored to pupils’ individual learning plans.
- Help students regulate emotions, manage behaviour, and engage positively in lessons.
- Promote emotional well-being and encourage confidence and independence.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to foster progress.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
Skills & Requirements for an SEMH TA:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
- CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualifications preferred.
- Strong communication and empathy skills.
- Ability to adapt to different needs and provide personalised support.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
